Before you buy, find a place to get some lessons and rent boats until you learn more... you will save money, time, and pain (literally and figuratively). You will meet some great folks, and there's always someone who knows someone who's selling exactly the boat you need... One boat for the 4 of you at the same time will be hard to find...

Otherwise, plan for 2 folks to sail. When time, buy a boat that is common and in good condition.

Cat sailing is life in the dark side. You won't go back.
