Which "arm" are you on?
I assume Salmon Arm?
I have traveled quite a few miles on all arms of the Shuswap (pronounced shoo swhap) & never seen a Cat. The lake is warm, deep, but the winds are quite flaky, no?
As teens we used to water ski/camp on Okanagan (oka noggin) lk.
A friend is retired near Vernon. He got rid of his lead sled as the winds were usually to light for decent sailing & built a small skiff.
Those are all big lakes, over 300 sq km, the issue with them is the geography. They are nearly 100 miles long, but only 1 or 2 wide. Being hemmed in makes for swirling winds.

I am located in Salmon Arm and I know a few other people with H16, Hobie AI and TA.
This is very true. You have watch the wind forecast to pick you days. Spring and Fall are usually not to bad, but Summers are very quiet.

Last summer we went to Nicola Lake, camping at Monk prov. park. This is a big-wind destination for the region. We've had a few days with a nice blow, but a few other with none.
A year before, we've tried the Okanagan Lake, at Fintry Prov. park. The winds were light, however.
Edchris177, are you somewhere near the Shushwap too?

We used to summer in the Okanagan as kids. Spent lots of time around Fernie, Cranbrook, Creston, Moyie Lk. I still keep a residence just over the border, in S. W. Alberta. The skiing is far better in the Rockies than here in Ontario!
I have another house on Lake Simcoe, ON.
I'm based out of Toronto, & didn't want to deal with the hassle of commuting from Alberta, so I made that place my main base. We keep 3 cats here on Simcoe, it's warm & big.
