Trailer modification for solo mast stepping  Bottom

  • The other thing is many people back the trailer/boat down to the water edge. The steeper the final shoreline, the more to your advantage. Every extra angle the bows are pointer down, means the mast is closer to vertical, & the less work you have to do.
    Do a search of the threads, Andrew has a recent photo of his setup, backed down to the shoreline.

  • This is that I use for stepping. It is a Y-pole I just insert into a short pipe welded into the the end of the trailer. The pole gives me a good initial angle for manual or winch stepping. It is also handy to keep the mast float off the ground and to handle the mast.
