I am going to look at a 1998 NACRA 6.0 this weekend. I have been sailing a Prindle 18 for years and am looking for a larger cat that can handle more crew weight and rougher water. Any known problems with this boat or things that I should specifically look at ? Anyone with any experience with the NACRA 6.0 and thoughts regarding it. Thanks, Scott

Frikin' boat kicked my ass in the Great Lakes regatta, and supports a Spinaker. Obviously if you get a Nacra 6.0, you suck!

I never had a Nacra 6, but I had a Mystere 6.0XL (20' X 10'), and still have an N5.7
The 20' boat was awesome in rough water. It is only 1' longer than the N5.7, but the much bigger hulls rode the waves much better. It was designed for spin, lots of volume up front.
It was a handful to solo, but if I had strong crew all the time it would be my #1 boat.

while you have to search for info on the 6.0 it is still a good project. i have had mine for about a onth and have seriously been refurbishing the boat.
i have a self tacking jib on the way and just about have everything i need for a spinnaker.
i'm still trying to figure all the blocks on the bow foiler but hopefully a picture will show it's ugly head for me to look at.
when i bought the boat i was told the boat would bury the bows. i haven't noticed that. we have taken her out only a couple of times.
check your diamond wires[the long ones and any other stainless rigging on your craft. i found a bad diamond and am presently waiting for it to arrive.

Is this the one posted here or one you are looking at locally to you? I'm looking to upgrade/upsize as well and this is a good option. I'd be interested in taking advantage of any research you've done. I'm on the left coast and there seems to be very little catamaran activity.

Sailed one for 10 plus years, it is a great boat. Can handle the rough seas and wind. This boat can reach like no other cat that I have sailed.

That is one serious drive to get a boat.. but that price is well worth it... Good luck.. you'll be very happy with it when you're doing a screaming broad reach..

It is too long of a drive for me, especially out and back. Flying out on the wonderful "Spirit" airline where they charge you if you want to wear clothes on the plane (among other things). Will get it U-shipped to me if it looks okay.

Well....how did the trip go? I'm asking because I'm going to want to pick your brain to look at one close to the left coast than Wisconsin. I'm not ashamed to use someone else's wisdom.

To quote my wife "I told you not to go". The people there were nice but the reason I went is that they knew nothing about the boat. The only mainsail was mylar and looked to be in good shape except for the 4 foot and 2 foot tears. Despite picture with jib furled, there was no roller furler. Had larger inspection port that was put it near transom that was cupped and cover would not screw down on it. Sail box on trailer leaked and all sails inside were wet. With all this and cost to ship did not get the boat. Helped them dry out the sails and advised to store in a dry place. Rice Lake Wisconsin was not and will not be on my bucket list.

I'm headed out to take a look at that one this weekend. The pictures look good. There has been some modifications back and forth to different types of rigging but the owner seems to know what he is doing so I'm hoping for the best. It's a lot closer than Wisconsin...

Sorry it did not work out for you... but as they say nothing ventured, nothing gained...

See it being you're familiar with the Prindle brand... is a Prindle 19 out of the question?
