My buddy just picked up a bunch of H17 parts and is considering delivering them to me this weekend from TX. He has a bridle foil and a nice mainsail. From a quick read I see the 5.2 has a longer mast. Would the H17 main fit a 5.2?

It can work. The luff of a H-17 is 7.9m and the 5.2 is 7.8m. You may be limited on downhaul, but that isn't the end of the world for cheap/free.
