Spirt of 76 Hobie 16  Bottom

  • A good friend recently passed.
I’m Trying to find value and sell for his wife and kids.
I was going to keep for myself use until I realized what it was and that
It might need to be preserved.
Located Hilton Head Island but never saw the salt water.
It appears to have been fresh water only.
Sails are in very good shape.
    Looking Any help or offers?
Sorry having trouble loading images from my phone.

  • I do like those sails...
Too many variables to give you value for it.
I'm no Hobie expert but I believe the sails are what is special about it. The hulls will have a special stripe probably, but that's about it. Cosmetics.
Value it as a regular '76 H16, then add in the Spirit of 76 sails value. I think that's how I'd approach it.

  • Not really that much. Its an old old boat no matter how you cut it. $2,500 would be enough to write home about IMO.

  • Thanks, I just want to find someone who would appreciate it.
I’m sure she would be happy with $2000

The condition of the sails are what caught my attention.
Barely used , not missing stitches ,
    Almost crispy

Feel free to make an offer or spread the word.

    I could text pics

    Thank you

  • He's going to put it in the classifieds soon, in the meantime I got some pictures from jimsail. If the sails check out as original Hobie brand Spirit of 76 this is quite a find. I hat the term "barn find" but... original stripes and flags on hulls it appears.

This would be a cool boat to have, restore and use.

For those that don't know the sail pattern, one-year-only Hobie issued in 1976 take a look at the sail color guide.
