  • This trailer is right here at the Beachcats, and is more affordable. And probably where that guy got his idea from (note date of 2002, I think he built it in '01)

  • are there detailed plans for the tilt trailer pictured on the site? it looks simple to do with detailed plans.
  • The Tilly Trailer mentioned by Jay is by far the coolest in operation, but this one built by Mike Krantz for his Carbon 20 (10.5 feet wide) is the simplest one I've seen.

One man operation, no motors, cables, or winches, just two hydraulic struts.

  • i am checking on a special permit on wide trailer loads. i will confirm on mon. if it is possible and the price. it looks like one is avalable for wide cats in fl.
  • in south carolina 10'width is legal. in fl. a special permit is required for 11' width. a one time permit is 5-25$ a annual permit is over 300$ .

I was thinking to do this to my trailer! But i have no idea if its even possible , my boat is 12.6 wide so i dont know if this would work

Would you mind sharing where you got that spec on SC trailers? I've have always found a legal trailer width limit of 102" which I believe is a federal limit.

By the way, you will need an oversize permit for EVERY state that you travel through. Some of them are not as easy to get. I know a guy in GA that has 10.5' trailer and wanted a annual permit that is talked about online, the state would not issue him one. He takes his chances with no issues, but he also pulls that trailer with an RV so it does not look as wide.

  • the 10' width is legal in North Carolina according to discover boating. not S.C.
  • I guess my idea s are totally out of question. If I need a permit! To much work.

  • It's not quite as simple as up to 120" but the boat exemption makes sense.

Quote(m) Notwithstanding subsection (a) of this section, a boat or boat trailer with an outside width of less than 120 inches may be towed without a permit. The towing of a boat or boat trailer 102 inches to 114 inches in width may take place on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, and may take place at night. The towing of a boat or boat trailer 114 inches to 120 inches in width may take place on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays from sun up to sun down. A boat or boat trailer in excess of 102 inches but less than 120 inches must be equipped with a minimum of two operable amber lamps on the widest point of the boat and the boat trailer such that the dimensions of the boat and the boat trailer are clearly marked and visible.

  • Like Damon's post best, if I can't sell the P 18-2 with trailer this
spring, I will build a Steve Krantz - like design, simple and light.
As a base for that I'm planning to use a second hand 2 axle trailer.
