I just puchased an older Nacra 5.0 I think '88-a "project" boat that needs some work. What better way to learn about the ways of a tough old cat? I have taken her out in moderate winds and this boat wants to fly-has a lot of jury-rigged parts though. I had to remove the trap lines (uneven and frayed) and the boat did not have a jib so I removed the jib halyard. I do want to sail with main and jib however I'm not sure about how to install the jib hardware correctly. Most noticeable is the tiller/rudder assembly-the rudders are glued and appear mismatched, are not "kick-up" type and get stuck up in shallows making it hard to correct when under way and solo sailing.
Can anyone reccomend parts mfr for Nacra and rigging manual? Right now my priority would be tiller/rudder assembly trap lines and jib lines/blocks. Additionally soon (when have more$$) would be looking for new mainsail and jib.
I have been sailing a hobie-16 and this boat is undergoing hull repairs this summer-hence the addition of the Nacra to my" fleet". I'm really psyched about the 5.0-I know this boat is a rocket when well tuned-thanks in advance for any help with my new boat.

Rigging the actual jib is pretty straightforward. Stock system is two parts to the halyard. The wire line will have shackle on the end. Clip the head of the jib to this shackle, via the small loop in the head of the jib. The line then travels up along the forestay, to a small wire block, attached to the mast just below the hound, then down the mast.
The jib has a full length zipper, as you raise the jib, you do up the zipper. The halyard essentially pulls the jib up the forestay. Once up place a pip pin through the tack,& the jib hangar, that is pinned to the chainplate,(where the bridal wires/forestay meest.
Here is the system on a 5.7. The jib would attach at the top left. You are raising it via pulling on the bottom left. Once raised the block w becket will be at the bottom of the mast. The bitter end of the line,(out of photo) would run through a cheek block on the mast, back through the block in the photo, then down to a clam cleat. This gives a 3:1 on the jib. I think the 5.0 only uses a 2:1.

Note: the jib hangar is hanging upside down. You would rotate it 180*, insert the tack of the jib between the sides of the hangar, then insert a pip pin.

One more thing (isn't there always?)-my mainsheet is too thick to fit through traveler-fits through block coming off clew of main but I needed to further jury-rig another line just to control traveler...on my Hobie this is one continuous line I figured it's the same on 5.0
If so-what size/type line is recc for this boat? Do you recc Murray's or another dealer?

On my 5.0 I have separate lines on the traveler and main sheet mainly so I can remove and store the main sheet and blocks inside. When I head out sailing I just granny-knot the traveler and mainsheet lines together.

Make sure you have a knot in the traveler line that stops the car BEFORE it hits the end of the track. Otherwise it will sheer the stop off, the car will fly off the track, & all the bearings will go in the drink.
Knot the traveler line to the end of the mainsheet.
I think mine is 10' of 7/16"

the h16 seems to work well with 1 continuous line
the nacras seem to prefer a separate traveller sheet
