hobie 16 mast base

anyone know where I can purchase a less expensive mast base ? Can I grind down the old style mast base to accept a step link....worth it -

You might not need a new mast base. If you buy a new step link from Hobie, it comes with instructions for modifying the older style mast base to accept the step link.
