Front Tramp Net  Bottom

  • Hi,
We have a Capricorn F18 that we use mostly for long distance cruising and its mast rotator prevents having any coolers or drybags near the front beam. To remedy that problem, we are looking at getting a tramp net made for in front of the front beam.
I plan on having 4 grommets on the beam side to attach to eye straps and then hang it off of the bottom of the spin pole with a single grommet/ring. I drew up the following to illustrate what i am going to do:

My concern is the notch I have in the net to accomodate the spin retrieval lines. Is this necessary or will the lines freely pass over the material?
My next question is what material should I have it made in? I prefer a net with about 1 inch openings but could go with smaller openings if there is an advantage.
    I appreciate any suggestions.
  • Design looks good, the notch is probably a good thing but slightly complicates the build. Maybe a large grommet to make a low friction hole for the spin lines rather than the notch.

Please be sure and document your design as you go along and add to the Beachcats Technical album.

Here's a couple of others that have been done.
