Hi,
I was wondering if anybody could give me the shroud measurments for a Nacra 5.2 mid 80's? everything is bottomed out but the rig is still looser then it should be. the stays are fairly new so before ordering new ones I would like to check that the ones we have are right/wrong length.

There is a lot more to consider than just the shroud length.
Does the mast have a radical rake, most nacra's carry the stick pretty straight up (unlike the Hobie 16's.
Has anyone added any shackles to the bridal wires, forestay etc. or a longer than usual forestay adjuster.
I have help many sailors correct these kinds of problems and what I find most often is that someone has just added shackles, adjusters and the like where ever they wanted without realizing the results. This weekend a P-16 sailed up on our beach and there was a 6 hole adjuster at the bridal wires and Prindle 16's just us a shackle from the bridal wires to the end of the forestay tubular adjuster. He added approx 6-7 inches to his forestay and it was loose as a goose. -

if you compare pics of the new mast base, captive for raising, and the old base, not captive, you will see that the new, thicker dolphin striker post lifts the mast a few inches higher
presumably as the old base limited mast rake
it's possible the shrouds were made a few inches longer at that time to to make up for the taller mast ball -

Okay, here is the answer to the question: Nacra 5.2 Shroud length: 20'-4".
Depending on where you measure - you will come up a measurement close to this. Recognize that you have over 3" of adjustment.
Boat: 1982 Nacra 5.2 with the old ball setup.
I don't see that as an issue, since Nacra didn't offer upgraded shrouds for the boats with the new ball system.
Some of the experts believe that mast rakes does de-power the boat. I agree. My rake is where the mast tip is just behind the access port. -

"My rake is where the mast tip is just behind the access port." - using the rear of the access port as A VERTICAL SIGHT LINE - it matches up with the mast tip. I don't run a lot of mast rake here, we have really gusty shifty winds.
