The whole thing is spaced in position between the hose clamps. The PVC acts as washers. No additional holes in the pipe to rust out. I use this on packed gravel parking lot and concrete boat ramps for my P16 and it works great and sounds like popping corn. Hard to push up the ramp, but that's my lack of exercise. The whole thing cost about $160 in parts.
