Prindle chainplate question  Bottom

  • Has anyone ever replaced chain plates on there cat?
    “Prindle 18-2” in particular. I am recoreing the decks and Planning on installing new chain plates while I have it opened up.
    Any words of advice, would be much appreciated.

    I will do a good visual inspection when I open up the deck, and if all looks good I will close the deck back up with ultra light core cell foam and fiberglass.
  • I went through the trouble to remove both bow decks when 1 bow tang failed
    also broke through a (second) bulkhead to replace both side-tangs when 1 chainplate/tang failed

    it may not be a bad idea to replace when you have access as preventative maintenance - esp if the cat was used in salt water

  • On a boat this old? It would probably be smart preventive maintenance. You will have to get some fabbed up though
