Hi All,
The past winter I've completely overhauled my Hobie 17.
Buying her in September knowing she was leaking and all scratched up I've done almost everything from inside to out finishing with a complete paint job. I'm satisfied with the result and now it's time to sail.
What I've also done this winter is to convert the boat to Hobie 17 sport buying the sport kit and a new jib.
But when i rigged yesterday i got a bit confused about the mast rake.
What mast rake shall i have?
What shroud tension shall i have?
HELP needed please...

Hello,
I rake quite a bit - 7-9 holes down on side shrouds but note I run a super jib and spin and I am pitch pole adverse. I also run a relatively tight rig because Lake George has severe boat wakes and quite often light wind.

Hi James,
Many thanks for your mail and answers.
I've seen your movies a number of times the past winter and they sure have served as much inspiration with my project.
I have reasons to believe the forstay is too long as the mast angle is steep even with the forstay in the bottom hole above the furler.
I might need to shorten the forstay a bit (i have the tools so no problems), but what rake shall i aim for when i'm done?.
