Grommets, the future of BeachCats  Bottom

  • While hiking from Spit Bridge to Manly Beach, (just outside of Sydney), we came across a school of small Grommets.
They are all in knee deep water, holding onto their Opti's, & I'm thinking, where in Hell are they going to safely sail? About 30 yds off the beach, the bay was filled with leaners hanging off buoys.
They tethered the Optis into 2 lines, then towed them a couple of miles out to open water. Must have been a challenge, the wind was good, but came right off some good sized hills. Being up top, we could clearly see the cats paws racing across their path.
Only saw one Cat in New Zealand,(maybe they get tired of being upside down while on the wire?), Oz had far more.
