dart 18 styrofoam dislodged, loose in starboard hull

smoked 570 this weekend despite discovering approx 3 ft section of styrofoam loose in hull, taking on no water, cat sails aok, any worries here? should i break up and remove, or is it a good back up flotation device? -

Yes, it is for a backup flotation.
