  • Only the few people on the forums know the true value of these boats. The young kids are playing with their phones & the old have gotten too lazy, so the market is extremely depressed. San Diego market won't buy a P-16 for $700. I recently got a P-15 on trailer for $150. That '84 probably has the $80 steel bearing traveler also. Pete
  • too bad it is a 9+ hour drive for me or I'd do it. its only been out of the wrapper for 13 years

  • Those boats are the hidden gems, but as Pete said they just have little value unless it is with someone that has sailed one. This one would be a tough sell in my area for $800.

  • this would be a great starter for someone...with beachwheels and nice trailor...hulls might still be solid. room for negociation for sure. I look at them like dirt track racers...cheap parts boats around, sail it hard, I mean hard...and when you break something, swap it. pete knows the extreme durability/reliability of this classic. I have met several folks who used to have a prindle and they upgraded...they give me the ole "don't get me wrong...like the new boat but still miss the prindle, not sure the upgrade was a good thing or not". having an easy/trusty platform makes sailing much more accessable...it's a great "gateway" drug into the addiction of cat sailing. now for the more competitive skipper, nothing less than the best will do in the quest for speed but for a young family looking for some fun, perfect fit.

  • I don't think he meant it is sitting in the water - I think he means he sails it.

    "hulls might still be solid."
my 78 hulls are rock solid - i'm not sure how the hulls on this boat wouldn't be.
i've had my p16 since 2007 and I only wish it could hold more people. Too many kids and they keep growing.
