scissoring cat  Bottom

  • my coach said some thing about a catamaran that the hulls would move when you tack so the hull on the opposite side of you would be in front and the hull that your on is in the back. i can find the name of it on google does anyone know what it is?
here is a badly drawn pic of it.

  • Never heard of such a thing. Stiffness is normally the name of the game with cats. You want the hulls and beams to move as little as possible relative to each other and that equals maneuverability. It seems to me that a cat that would to that would shift every time you touched the rudder giving you little or no steering ability.

  • Randy Smith has a trimaran that he calls Scizzor. The amas will move like you describe.
