I recently replaced my front rollers with the $175 Hobie front cradles. They are very easy to install.

  • ~~ I just used 2x6x10' with 2x4 side guides,(inside & outside) then screwed some carpet on to it with 1" screws... Use carriage bolts to mount it to the trl~~

  • i made some for my nacra 5.2 by

    - cutting some 12'pvc pipe in half, perfect fit, and then 10'lengths
    - making some wooden blocks to go under the pipe bits
    - painting the wood several times and mounting under the pipe bits with counter-sunk screws
    - finished with bit of carpet glued to the inside surface of the pipe

or as above, just go with a flat-bed trailer and cover the full hull length with carpet

  • i acquired an old H18 'cause I needed the mast, and one hull was broke into 2...

Took the bad hull and cut sections of the bottom out for cradles...

Glued some styerene 1/2inch insulation from lowes, then glued trailer carpet on top... $20 parts, perfect contour...

I can still use the tailer rollers then slide the cradles under the hull. I often move the boat on and off the trailer alone, so the rollers are nice for me to keep...
  • I replacedthe rollers but used the pins and mounts. I put 2x10x18s at each corner, sheved the width to fit the roller brackets, put 2x4 cut into wedges on the iside and outside of the 2x10 then put carpet on them. Then pins from the rollers alow then to pivit when loading and unloading. also they conture to the hull instead of sitting flat.

    Good luck!

  • I've got a H17, I'm lucky in that I keep it by the beach, don't need a trailer. :p
