Could be. I would rather take it off or or roll it on the forestay on the beach, though, instead of adding more complexity and throwing more money to this old boat. But I've never been very interested in sailing with the main only. Not sure if I would be able to tack on big waves, which seems to add more risk when sailing on the sea.[/quote]
