Exactly.
The same function can be almost replicated, for very little cost, by using two bridles, & extending them right to the mast hound. The force becomes almost vertical, with little trying to pull the hulls inwards. There are several Cats that use this configuration. The compromise is they cannot utilize a jib.[/quote]
