Sounds like some delamination on the top of the hulls, a common problem for catamarans that are stored for long periods of time outside and uncovered. It can be fixed but it is a pretty big job.
If the sides of the hulls are still intact and all the parts are there it would probably be worth it to restore it. Especially if it is indeed a C cat. Take some pics and post them!
