Good question Rob,
For distance racing, an adjustable trapeze is important, with an additional amount for adjustment when need. This presents one with a long bitter end tail. What this team does (as well as a few others) is attaches/splices the bitter end to a bungee which is attached part way up the trap wire. Why? . . . to keep the end from flopping around and to make it easy to reach, adjust, etc. for instant adjustment in an offshore environment.[/quote]
Excellent answer Philip, I noticed this when I took the pictures and checked out the other boats, they pretty much all had their traps rigged like this. So it's not a Wildcat thing as I first thought.
