I wouldn't advise putting anything like carpet inside the top of the H18 Dagger trunk. I think you'd be asking for trouble, like not being able to raise the daggers when you had to.
Sometime in the 90's Hobie started adding a plastic liner that wraps inside the bottom of the trunk to reduce chipping and tighten up the slot slightly, but it's only like 1/8 inch think and solid.
It's sold as a Hobie part if you want to add it.[/quote]
