PAYC and Division 6 2013 Spindletop Regatta

April 6 &7
1. Rules 1.1The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 1.2 Classes will be set according to registration. Current Portsmouth ratings will apply as published on US Sailing website for all classes sailing in a Handicap Fleet. 2. Advertising 2.1 Advertising shall be unrestricted Category C. 3. Eligibility and Entry 3.1 The Regatta is open to all Multi-Hull Beach Catamarans 22ft. and under. 3.2 Each boat shall give a complete list of modifications at Registration.
4. Fees 4.1 Required fees are as follows: Double Handed Boat $55.00 Single Handed Boat $40.00 Includes Saturday Dinner, camping and ice. Bring your favorite breakfast items the kitchen in the clubhouse will be open. Guest Meal Saturday $25.00
5. Schedule 5.1 Registration: Friday Night April 5th at the clubhouse, and Saturday morning before skipper's meeting in the clubhouse. Registration ends at 10AM Saturday April 6th.
5.2 The scheduled time for the first start on Saturday is 11AM, a skipper's meeting will be held at the Clubhouse after registration at 10AM. 5.3The scheduled time for the first start on Sunday is 10AM
6. Sailing Instructions 6.1 The sailing instructions shall be the Division 6 Sailing Instructions available upon registration at Port Arthur Yacht Club.
7.0 Venue 7.1 Directions by land. From Houston - E on I-10; E on Hwy 73; S on Hwy 82 across MLK Bridge to Pleasure Island From Orange - W on 73; S on Hwy 82 across MLK Bridge to Pleasure Island From Beaumont - S on 69; W on 73; S on Hwy 82 across MLK Bridge to Pleasure Island On Pleasure Island - R at bottom of MLK Bridge on T. B. Ellison; R on Pleasure Island Blvd.; L into Port Arthur Yacht Club
7.2 Racing Area will be on Sabine Lake. 8. Courses 8.1 The courses sailed will be according to the Multi-Hull Courses numbered 1 through 7. 9. Penalty System 9.1 For all classes rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required. 9.2 Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in rule 70.4 10. Scoring 10.1 One race shall be required to be completed to constitute a series. 10.2 When 4 or more races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 10.3 Competitors who receive DNF shall be scored the number of finishers plus one.
11. Berthing 11.1 Camping will be allowed in the parking lot by Miracle Beach where the boats are launched. Camping will be available on the Yacht Club property and dry boat storage area near the Club House on a first come first serve basis. There is no available electricity at the Yacht Club or Miracle Beach. Showers and Bathrooms are available at the Yacht Club. 11.2 Boats may be stored at Miracle Beach the catamaran launching area or trailer with the mast up and stored at the parking lot near Miracle Beach or at the Yacht Club dry storage area. 11.3 Area Hotels http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g56477-Port_Arthur_Texas- Hotels.html
12. Prizes 12.1 Trophies will be awarded according to registration.
13. Disclaimer of Liability Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
14. Further Information
Dinner on Sat night will be crawfish followed by a ping-pong tournament. We would like to be able to get an estimate of how many people will be coming so please RSVP with the contact options below.
