Broken Mast Step Hinge

When our mast came down, it took the mast hinge with it. Despite the color, the mast hinge on the P-Cat is cast aluminum. I made the replacement out of 6061-T651 aluminum. Unfortunately I started it by tracing the old part onto the scrap sheet of 6061 I u

Mast Step Assist Installed

The mast step assist doodad came together relatively quickly. The only bits that didn't come out of the scrap box were the eyebolts and the crossbeam. Those came from Ace Hardware. The rest was all in the bins ready to be cut down.

Named and Registered

Today we had the naming ceremony for our P-Cat. We opted not to break the bottle of champagne on the bow of the boat, and poured it into glasses instead. We said a toast, raised our glasses, and drank to Smilodon's health.

Actually we registered the boat a little over a week ago. But we finally got to the point on the hulls where we could give them one last wax and buff, and put the stickers on.
