Attach strap to forestay, I have a roller furler setup so I attached a long shackle to the same thimble that the furler is attached to, I hook into the shackle which leaves the furler free to be connected. Notice tension on trap wires, I make sure that when mast is laying across tramp there is already some tension on traplines when connecting bungees, as mast is raised, tension increases keeping mast stable.
