the much preferred ONE peice mast

The repair left the mast perfectly true , but not knowing at that time why the mast broke, we opted to wrap it w/ 9 oz carbon uni between the diamond stay terminations. Had to remove quite a bit fairing compound to get down to the 3 0z glass skin for a good bond. Wet out the uni, laid it around the mast from mast track to mast track (a 3 person job), wrapped that with peel ply pulled taut, and taped in place. Increased the mast's rigidity immensely, at maybe a 5 or 6 lb weight penalty (85 lbs originally).
