Prindle 18 Rudder Rake  Bottom

  • What are some of you P18 drivers using for your rudder rake setting..

Setup manual is saying 1/2" good starting point.. Anyone carrying more or less?

Yes I don know the mast rake is part of the set up procedure...

  • John, With the Tripoint race on the horizon, these are points some of us are not likely to divulge. Pete
  • But I will give you the statement from the Prindle Manual: Lower the rudders (on trailer) & lock down. Take a batten or yardstick & lay the straight edge flush against the transom. Adjust the lock bolt so that the forward bottom edge of the rudder is about 1/2" aft of the forward edge of the batten. (pull rudder back lightly to pull out any slop.) 1/2" aft is a good starting point, further adjustment may be necessary for personal preference. Somewhere I have an old Smyth tuning guide, tho can't find at moment. Pete
  • Leave the rudders up and you should be good to go, John!!! See you at the Tri-Point Ocean Race!!! Bob Martinez
  • Gents...

Regarding the Tri-Point.... I am not going to be able to make it... I am in NYC and Philadelphia the whole week prior for meetings and don't get back to Los Angeles until late Friday night..

Pete... If you come across the Smyth Tuning let me know..

    John
