Sailing by the Mauna Kea

A photo across the deck toward the Mauna Kea Resort on the west coast of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Visible in this shot are the boom and gooseneck, with the socket for the main halyard winch just below them on the mast. The P-Cat has a boom vang, which is attached to a tang at the base of the mast (actually part of the mast base). We also attached a righting line to the tang, which is stored in a mesh bag. Non-standard, but prudent.

The jib sheets are actually set up backwards of how the P-Cat is rigged, but it's closer to how a typical catamaran is rigged. The rigging diagram in Royce's Sailing Illustrated shows the jib sheet crossing over the deck. We rigged it so the jib sheet comes out of the block on the same side of the boat that the jib is sheeted to. (Makes more sense to me that way.)
