Running Rigging

Photographs of the running rigging on the Pacific Catamaran 19 (P-Cat). As far as I can tell I have the running rigging on the boat arranged the same way the original rigging was set up. I've had to replace a fair bit of the hardware to make it work, though, so it's possible for errors to have crept in. If you have a P-Cat, feel free to let me know how our rigging setups differ.

EDIT: I found a rigging diagram for the P-Cat 2/18, the second rev of this boat, and found that the original traveler was a 2:1 similar to how a Prindle or Hobie is rigged. (Half the hardware for this is still on the boat, and the filled screw holes from where the other half was removed is still clearly evident.)

I also found the rigging diagram for the jib sheet, which answered one of my remaining questions. When I post the photos of the jib sheet system, they should be accurate.

We wound up getting a bunch of stuff for our boat from Sailcare. They were the only ones who had the oddball pivoting sheave/cam-cleat combination that the jib sheet on the P-Cat uses, and we wound up cruising their catalog for other stuff as well.

Traveler Car

A closeup of the traveler car on the P-Cat. I'm almost certain the car itself is original. The holes where the blocks are attached had been wallowed out, so I repaired them:

First I potted them with West Systems epoxy and colloidal silica...

A closer look at one side of the traveler. The line ties off on the bail of the block on the traveler car, passes around a sheave located underneath the traveler track, comes back through the block on the traveler car, and exits through a sheave and cam c

The traveller on the P-Cat is a 3:1 with cam cleats about halfway in from each end of the track. The line runs through it in a loop. As the car is pulled across on one side, the line feeds back in on the other, keeping the deck fairly clear.
