I took great care for weeks keeping this little tube in place while I worked on this main beam. Then at the very end I slid a long 3/4 x 3/4 piece of wood back through the beam to suspend it for some more painting and I knocked the dang thing out. So I used the same long stick with some painters tape to position the tube at the angle shown. This made getting the tube back and close to position pretty easy. Then it was just a matter of using the rod to catch the tube and move into position. Then a good pull and the painters tape tore away.
