The winch I bought for $16 from Northern. It's a 3:1 with a 600 lb. capacity.

The Gin pole which is made from a 10' piece of 1" steel pipe. I cut it approximately in half and coupled it together just below the bracket which holds the mast.

I used 1" pipe clamps to hold the pipe to the mast upright. This allowed me to turn the lower section when joining the upper section to the bottom.

This is the brace for the gin pole where it connects to the safety chain at the tongue. I use a turn buckle to tension it. This takes all the load and is a very necessary item.

The rope from the winch is attached to the jib halyard which makes it easy to connect the main stay when she's up. I've left about 2' of the halyard out.

And she's up. I can use the same rig to pull the boat out of the water, if I'm feeling weary, though that never requires a s much energy as stepping.
