cleat/fasteners/galvanic corrosion

When using monel or SS rivets or other fasteners, what options do I have to prevent ss to aluminum contact? I think I would have a hard time explaining the purchase of a 2oz. container of Tef Gel at $72 to my wife. Would something like Permatex Red or Copper do the trick? This is for a cleat on the boom.

Lanocote has worked very well for me. Since getting it for the boat, I've started putting it on just about everything that's screwed together outdoors. That small tub will last you (and a friend or two) forever. It smells like hell, though!

I am seeing closer to $40 for a 2oz container of Tefgel on Amazon. Still pricey, but that little jar will probably last a lifetime for personal use. You will forget about the cost and be happy you used it when you go to take something apart 10 years later and there’s no pitting or corrosion. Ounce of prevention as it were…

Teflon plumbers pipe paste.... or Aquasjield grease...
Opps, forgot to log in... ^^^^^^^

For rivets, I have used Teflon Plumber Pipe paste and Aquashield and though a little messy, they seemed to have done a good job. The plumbers putty hardens up and creates a nice seal..

For nuts and bolts, I have used Loctite Anti Size in liberal amounts... This has a high messy factor, but nothing that some Windex and paper towels can't handle.
