Who knew a monkey's fist is a felony to carry in some states...

...especially concealed, and has been so for 140 years in Florida?

Me too, until I ran across this article.
The monkey's fists they are talking about were baseball sized and had a large metal nut or pipe inside.

Does it have shoulder straps, or do you holster it?

have a feeling these were used for ship to ship or ship to shore line throws. toss a light line with a heavy end... lashed to a bigger line, and so on

we have better methods in the USN these days to send a line to a ship or shoreman

Wow. I'm guessing that gun isn't street legal either.

Does your back pocket tea bag in the waves when you are on trapeze?

The rifle looks like a slightly updated M1. That is a ww2 rifle and the military had bazillions of them. that is the rifle every sailor trained with in bootcamp (at least in the 80's). so Yes it probably is street legal. But shooting a few 100' of line from house to house may be an issue in some municipalities - check with your HOA :)

Don't be silly, i don't carry it while sailing

My HOA Rules Nazi was fuzzy on allowing the M1, but sternly identified the Airtronic RPG-7 as right out. I guess Halloween will be a bit quieter than planned.
