Let's assume you and your beloved H16 (2004) go on a mutual vacation at some far away place where they have not much of anything .... maybe electricity and water, Tequila and some tools, but that's pretty much it

Sooo, as the (ever) prepared skipper I kindly ask you: what are the most important spare parts, tools, ingredients, gadgets or utensils that should come along for the ride? Maybe especially for the H16 ?

I'm thinking about preparing my "tool box" and my "spare part box" and my "small parts box" to take along. But what to put inside???

Thankful for any and all suggestions, and your valuable input ....

unclear if your new or experienced sailor and where you are going so i will just assume your new and your going island camping or similar.

in order of importance:

anchor & paddle, water, good knife
sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, medical kit (med tape, blood clot powder, few bandaids, neosporin, gauze and good wrapping for cuts or makeshift splint)
40' of 3mm dynema as a spare stay if needed or towing or being towed, etc

spare shackles, ring dings, a few bolts and nylock nuts, 2 part pool epoxy or similar (for on the fly and underwater temp repairs), one or 2 flairs if any night sailing will be done, silicone spray to make the rudders work, hobie shackle tool (and pre drilled rudder cams). screw drive for every type of screw, same with nuts and bolts

power bars, trail mix, lots of cool water

This whole list should only be a few pounds (excluding the water) and is what i carry all the time (unless racing)

The clear ones let you know what's inside before opening, and they fit into deck ports if you have them. I also keep a half inch or so of rice them as a desiccant preventing corrosion, changing it out occassionally.

Not an extensive list, just a few biggies that have been problematic for me while vacationing over the years....

Spare rudder cams (plus sister screws and white lithium grease). Are yours attached with sister screws or the original SS rolled pin? If the former, it's easy (with two screwdrivers) to replace that little piece of plastic that's ruining your vacation. If the latter, you will also need a drill, bit, punch, hammer, and extra beer. Regarding the grease.....a little dab'll do ya' (between cam and plunger).

Spare main halyard....the ones for the comp tip will eventually fail at the line/wire connection.

Spare rudder pins.

Lot's of spare 3/16" line...it's all over the boat.

All the crap that's needed to replace failed rivets.

McLube.

Lanocote or Tef-gel.

Entire set of spare standing rigging if you have it.

Sail repair tape.

Spare 1/4" shock cord.

Spare trailer tire.

Great idea, and way cheaper than mine! The only issue here for me is that I'm clumsy and would lose the lids overboard.

Stellar addition! (but most rums have screw off, and a if you have a lighter, you have a can opener ;) )
