I've run across a fairly cheap windsurfer mast and have heard of people making righting poles out of them. Anybody got any tips on how to build one? It'll go on a Nacra 500

Instead of the universal link for the base, I drilled holes thru the bottom of the windsurf mast, and simply lashed the mast to the dolphin striker loosely enough such that the lashing acted as the hinge. I looped a bit of shock cord around the base and dolphin striker so that when the pole is extended/deployed, the loop is slid down the dolphin striker post and round the pole to prevent it flopping back against the tramp.
To support the loads, I used "guy wires" made of low/nonstretch line made to eyestraps on the pole and eyestraps on the underside of the forward beam.
