wire cutters for emergencies?

Does anyone carry wire cutters for emergency situations?

You need to elaborate more. It seems like you are asking if you should cut a piece of standing rigging and that seems very extreme.

but you should carry a knife if you should happen to get caught under the tramp if ya flip and can't get out from under it. Ya can always buy another tramp.... Wife & kids can't buy another DAD !!!

agreed! it should be ALWAYS within reach (in or on your pfd).
i have had to cut a spin halyard to avoid a capsize in some real weather in a bad location (attempted to pop a spin in 25+ and it got fouled on the douse right near the intra-coastal)
