Looking for: When I bought my prindle 18 the holes for stepping the mast had already been broken out by the previous owner. My attempts at safely raising the mast without proper mast stepping have been unpleasant so I think i'm just going to have to get another mast step.

Before I spring for the brand new price from murrays just thought I'd check and see if anyone might have an one they'd let go of for cheap.

My Prindle has the same issue, I use a compression strap on my mast just up from the ball and socket and then looped through the triangle on the mast(don't know the official name) and then around the support beam under the trampoline. My sailing partner starts lifting the mast and I take the slack out of the compression strap as we go until I can connect the fore stay. The side shrouds are already connected of course. That's how we raise it up without the mast step......

So rivet the hinge to the other side of the mast. Pete
