ASym with 22 to 24 foot luff

Looking for: I am fitting out a SuperCat 17 with an asymmetrical spinnaker package. The mast on a 17 is unsupported i.e. no diamond wires— therefore the spinnaker cannot be too large. My calculations would suggest that a spinnaker with a luff of 23’ feet would be good. However I am open to suggestions. I am not Overly concerned about the condition of the sail. I Would just like to try something on the boat to see how the mast reacts.
Let me know if you could help.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate your comments. I have spoken to Tom, he is great! It is my intention however to do this on the cheap… At least the first time around.…with a 17. I have adjusted the left blank based on Tom‘s recommendations, But I Jerry rigged my own spinnaker pole and it changes those dimensions to some degree. Any idea where I might find a used F-16 spinnaker? I would appreciate any information you can share. Thanks again. Dave

Hi, First thing--contact Tom at Aquarius sails so you can get the exact spinnaker for your boat. I believe they don't have a kit for a Supercat that does not have a self-tacking jib setup, so you might have to do that conversion, first--which I highly recommend! Otherwise, the spreaders aren't a big issue with the 17 as long as you keep mainsheet tension on the sail. The Supercat 19 uses the exact same mast as the 17 but it has spreaders. If you are worried about it, you can simply add the spreaders from a 19. Supercat 17 masts are REALLY hard to come by, so if you break yours, you could be on the sideline for a while. If you want to find a similar sized spinnaker, I would look at the F16s. Hope this helps.. Dan
