About the place:
Canton Lake is located about 75 miles west of interstate 35, on Highway 51. It has clean semi-salty water and nice beaches on all along the west side. It is roughly 1.5 miles west to east and around 3 miles long. Anyone who lives in Oklahoma knows that the farther west you travel the more windy it is. The reason for the increase in the wind velocity is because the terrain is so flat in western Oklahoma. I recently visited Canton Lake for the first time and experienced 3 foot swells in 20 to 25 mph wind conditions. I had so much water coming over the tramp that I extracted five small fish from the lake.(minnows) The biggest suprise of all was that I was the only sailboat on the lake.
