About 10 miles after Government Camp take the Skyline Road exit and follow the signs to Timothy Lake. Takes about 1.5 hours from downtown Portland. Description of the lake: Breathtaking views of Mt Hood from the lake with great camping facilities. The best feature of the lake is that there's a 5mph speed limit on the lake that is regularly enforced by the county sheriff. As a result there are no water skiers, PWCs, jet boats or anything of the like. The winds are predictable from the west and pickup in the afternoons.
