About the place:
The launching site on Water St. in Beverly can be a little crowded on the weekends. A fair amount of PWCs hang out there and some small power boats use it for launching, but they are use to Hobies so it’s not to bad. The beach has a very slight slope so it is best to launch at mid or high tide. If your launch at low tide you can turn around on the beach and a pair of cat wheels would be a good idea. The beach sand is fairly firm so you shouldn’t get stuck. Trailer parking can be had on some of the side streets off of Water St. When leaving the beach their is a drainage pipe on the left side, which at high tide is still visable but not a problem. Medium tide its good to check it out first. Also fair amount of traffic getting out through the channel. When leaving the harbor watch the left side shoreline. If the tide is high you can go way inside to avoide some of the traffic, wind may get a little flucky. However, if it is low it gets very shallow very quickly BEWARE. Just one other thing do not try to go inside the stone pilar marker on the side of the channel at anytime. Hey, once you get out its great sailing! Rip up inside Salem harbor and buzz the restaurant that is way inside on a barge, look for the flags! I have a 18 foot magnum called Catapult see ya there!
