Picton is the main port in the sounds and the general place where everyone sails from. The local yacht club hosts a fleet of Torandos, Paper Tigers, and maybe even a hobie or two. Hireing a catamarans or mono is no problem here. The average wind speed for the sounds is just under 20knts, the waves never get big enough to be any problem and the tidal flow around Picton never gets above 1kt. Its really a nice place to sail.
