About the place:
The Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondak State Forest preserve is a large, scenic, man made body of water created when a mountain valley was damed & flooded to control the flow of the Hudson River in the 30's. It is surronded by beautiful mountains & is moderatly populated. Boat & PWC traffic is minimal during the week & increases on weekends. A NY State Park, North Hampton Beaches, is very Hobie friendly offering a boat launch with adjoining beaching areas & camp grounds with several waterfront campsites. This park & lake is home base for Hobie Fleet 238 & they are some of the friendliest Hobie sailors around. There is a main lake & two big forks (N/W & N/E) & several sandy islands. Fleet 238 hosts a nice regatta in mid August. North Hampton State Park is about 30 miles north of the NY State Thruway, (Rt I90) exit 29, off State Rt.30, just north of the town of Mayfield and south of the town of Northville. (about 40 miles north of Albany,NY). The Adirondak Forest Preserve is one of the largest & most scenic in the USA & offers several other beautiful mountain lakes all within a few hours drive.
