About the place:
One of the five finger lakes in Western NY, all of which are great for sailing. Seneca lake is the largest, 2-3 miles wide and 35 miles long. The lake is also very deep, about 650 feet. So you can get waves as large as 5 ft. with a good north or south wind. This launch site is very hobie friendly. It has plenty of room to set-up your boat and the launch is directly on the lake. No paddling is necessary. Take NYS Thruway (rt. 90) to the Geneva exit. Go south on Rt. 14. The launch is located in the village of Dresden which is about 8 miles south of Geneva. Another nice place is Sampson State Park which is located in the east side of the lake. It has camping facilities and a protected harbor. Launching a hobie there is not too difficult. You can sail out in the right wind conditions or paddle about 100 yards to the lake.
