2 AA batteries, the unit is visible up to 2 miles. The lense focuses a
beam straight ahead, as well as a lateral ring. This would allow you to
focus the brighter beam directly at a target, or leave pointing up to
display a bright ring in all directions. We wear ours strapped
high on one side of our lifejackets using the included velcro strap. It's
small and light, so we don't even know it's there. This makes it so
hassle free, you'll always have it on you in times of distress, or just
to help find things in the dark if you get back to the beach late in
the day. All this for around $10! Affordable enough to easily outfit
both the skipper and crew.
