Okay, I asked for it. The stories started coming not long after our last issue hit the 'net. I also received lots of support along with promises to send stuff in the future. Thanks to everyone who responded, along with those who have contributed on a regular basis over the last year.

I've always tried to keep this "publication" diverse, in that it meets the needs of a wide range of sailing skill levels. We will seldom turn down any article, whether it be rudimentary or complex. Hopefully, we satisfy everyone to some degree.

This month, we show you our unexpected Hobie 18 crossbar replacment. This should provide some help to anyone who has never disassembled a boat this far, as well as to stress the importance of sound sailing equipment.

Dave Sterns is back with his Captain's Log. No battens in the face of crew this time, but still a very enjoyable read.

Winter's coming on for those in the northern hemisphere, so you may want to stock up on reading material. Don't miss the book review by Matthew Corcoran on "The Perfect Storm".

While Paint Stripper appears out of place in our product reviews this month, maybe it isn't. Check out Mark Dawson's story on rebuilding an old wooden catamaran. And you thought fibreglas delamination was bad.

Sail fast, sail safe,

Well it's now October, and would you believe OTW has been published for over a year! As Bill spread's the archived issues over several ISP's servers, the volume of information is getting pretty impressive. Look's like we've become a quotable source of Catamaran sailing information. Many thank's to everyone who has contributed.

Still sailing here in Southern California, and thank's to the much published "El Nino" condition, the Pacific around here is quite warm. We did some sailing out of Channel Islands Harbor, san's wetsuit. Between our "Santa Ana" winds and the "El Nino", there's no telling what conditions we run into. One minute it's cranking, the next - virtually nothing.

I need to do some sail repair soon, anybody got any hot tips on off-season sail maintenance? How about batten pocket repair? If you've got the hot-ticket on this, please submit an article. We'll make your name famous!

Sail safe, and remember to check for overhead wires when trailering.
