I took a look at the weather maps this morning and noticed the nice warm temperature bands spread across the country. In Southern California, we take the nice weather for granted, but I'll bet you folks in the snow belt are glad summer is here!

Depending upon the weather, equipment, or other factors, sailing trips do not always go as planned. It's nice to know that you are not alone out there. This month we visit the U.S. Coast Guard Station at Channel Islands Harbor. Take a peek inside some of their boats, and get a glimpse into what this job is all about.

Mark Fahle continues his discussion on Sailing Racing Rules, this time pointing out ways to get started on learning them. This is a must read for anyone wanting tips on how to get more familiar with the rules.

Thinking about racing your Hobie? Not sure what to expect? Find out what it's all about as we get our first shot at the sport by taking part in this year's "San Diego Classic". We didn't win, but we sure had fun.

Whine mode on. Please submit stories if you have anything to offer. Things are slim on this side of the Internet. Whine mode off.

Have a great summer!

Get off your duff and submit an editorial, Frank. Otherwise, I'll write one for you and have you committing to another experiment!
