Catamaran Sailing
Catamaran Pictures

Man... That's a BIG story!

My server (AOL?) or computer refuses to display Mark Michaelsons article "Which Boat is best for you" from January 1997. Is there a *trick* to it? Is there a text only version ganging somewhere?

Thanks,

The article you refer to is a text only version. But it is huge! I have received a couple of other emails regarding this problem. Give it a few minutes to display. I don't know what your connection speed is, but give it 5 minutes or so. If you still can't read it, maybe I can "break it up" into chapters or something.

I am an AOL subscriber and have been having trouble getting on since xmas. I tried to view the article about purchasing catamarans in the last months archived issue. No luck. Could you please send me a copy via email.

KitsyA@aol.com

Sorry for the late response, but here is the article on buying a catamaran. If you receive the file FEATURE2.HTM, you will need to load it into your browser to view it. To do so, select the FILE pulldown, then LOAD FILE, then will need to find and select the file FEATURE2.HTM. Note that you may get some incomplete graphics at the top and bottom of the pager, but these are just the OTW logo headers and rudders. Let me know if this works for you.

Spreading Fame

Bill,

Your fame spreads, unless Joe is your brother-in-law.

I've found a wonderful Hobie ezine called "On The Wire" at http://www.west.net/~lpm/hobie. This has certainly cured my blues caused by the demise of the Hobie HotLine.

David Hendrick

No relation, David. Thanks for the hobie forum address. Nice site. Sort of a Hobie List without the "please stop sending me email" notices! (Thanks to Joe Tosh for the plug!)

Ok I found the (picture of my dog on the Hobie)... ...The volcano is in the background, and my dog Champagne is in the right spot as always (Windward side in heavy air leeward side in the light stuff)...

Note that this picture was taken from our "clubhouse". One of the reasons we established Taal Lake Yacht Club where we did was so the racing wouldn't be boring for wives and kids on shore.

Great shot Peter. By the looks of the spray coming off of that leeward bow, I have to wonder if the dog is really moving to windward over concern about boat trim!

Bill & Frank:

I thought I'd send you the attatched photo (falls.jpg) of my son Nick, Skippering my H18 "Wind Pig", with me as Crew. After reading about some of Franks exploits I thought he should know he is not the only one sailing a Hobie "On the Edge".

I also wanted to let you guys know that your doing a great job w/ On the Wire. It is even better than the Hotline. I look forward to it every month. Hope you can keep it going. I have published the Fleet295 newsletter for a couple of years & know the amount of time & work involved in just that & I can appreciate the effort that you guys are putting into On the Wire.
Thanx!

Thanks for the great photo Bob! (I actually thought about running Frank over the falls in a special "river sailing" issue).
